World War I color photos

A while back I found a couple of sites that had color photograhs from World War I. I'll let the sites outline the original sources. It is strange that black & white photos can add a 'distance' to the subject matter, both in time and connection, that color seems to 'cure'.

Both pictures here come form World War I Color Photos. Be sure to click through all of David's photos as well as follow his link to the Gallica site where he found the origial pictures.

My introduction to these photos came through Environmental Graffiti and Thomas Davie's accompanying text.

I link to these sites now since several bloggers (and hopefully others) are reading through Ford Madox Ford's Parade's End. Even if you aren't reading along with Ford's book, please take a few minutes to view as many of these pictures as you have time.
