Speaking of pretexts, I was about to throw out (long overdue) my lone Shakespeare Santa Cruz shirt and wanted to test out my new phone's camera. So here we go.
Not pictured is the shoulder and sleeve discolored from falling down a hill during a hike on Kauai. The red-lava dirt permanently stained it, but I viewed it as adding character.

It was the Awa`awapuhi and Nualolo trails. Lovely scenery but I lost my balance at one point and scraped my arm up pretty good.
That evening I took my wife to the hospital because she was having pretty strong contractions at only 5 months. They looked at my bandages and thought I was the one needing treatment. Turns out the doctor was an avid hiker and we talked about the trails.
