How to use one's time?

Few characters have affected me as much as Drogo, with his spoiling his life on an illusion, but perhaps we're no better than him.

Also, watch the movie. Besides an excellent score by Ennio Morricone, it has one of Max Von Sydow's best performances as Ortiz.LMRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08538873868140070018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26428110.post-58815040922532848562012-08-15T08:19:24.335-07:002012-08-15T08:19:24.335-07:00"Heavy-handed" might be too harsh for wh..."Heavy-handed" might be too harsh for what I meant, and as I said I definitely thought these insertions were well written. I think it was about the third time I ran across such an aside that essentially said the same thing it started to annoy me. Looking forward to your post!Dwighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13688525659034403580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26428110.post-77927170779413083632012-08-15T07:44:07.071-07:002012-08-15T07:44:07.071-07:00Dwight - I finally got around to reading The Tarta...Dwight - I finally got around to reading The Tartar Steppe just last week (it had been on my TBR pile for probably a decade, ever since I fell for Buzzati's short stories). I'm still deciding whether to write about it - so many others have said pretty much everything I might have to say about it - but I found it surprisingly moving. I didn't feel as you that Buzzati was being particularly "heavy-handed;" rather, I guessed that this was intentional, that it's part and parcel of the fabulist quality of his story. Anyway, this comment was quite a bit longer a minute ago than it is now; in responding to your post, I think I've just decided I'll write about The Tartar Steppe after all. By the way, that's a great cover - I've not seen that edition. seraillonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17654593356535433945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26428110.post-47075699236532751772012-08-15T06:32:12.637-07:002012-08-15T06:32:12.637-07:00Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you ...Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get to it.

I'll see about the word verification...I think I only have a choice of yes or no, not the number. Must get to it this year somehow since you're not the first blogger to make this sound so compelling. However, you certainly are the latest--thanks for the reminder, sounds great!
P.S. Any chance you could cut down on the number of captchas (2) needed to approve comments?
